NARS hosted a field day event at Burroughs Park in Northwest Houston. This year we have 591 contacts in the log. Last year we had 498. Thanks to all who participated. It was hot - the usual Texas weather for June. At least we didn't have to contend with rain and thunderstorms. We had our traditional barbecue lunch/dinner on Saturday (Thanks, Tom - KD5EIJ).

NARS and the local Houston area are fortunate to have local Card Checking Awards Managers for some ARRL awards and certificates. This means you do not have to send your QSL cards to the League for checking or worry about their safe return. Present the proper application form and the QSL cards to the awards manager in person. They will check your cards, sign the form, and then you send the application and appropriate fee to the ARRL.
Each awards manager has a supply of the application forms for these awards. If you need one, let them know. Some are also available online from the ARRL and other sources.
If you have questions concerning these awards, contact the appropriate awards manager. These managers DO NOT issue the awards, they only check your cards and certify eligibility. Refer to the ARRL Awards Program information on the ARRL website for additional information.

We sponsor the Wednesday evening Net beginning at 8:00 pm. It originally started as the Wednesday evening VHF net but since the introduction of Allstar and DMR has become an all-modes net. This net is open to ALL licensed radio amateurs, whether you are a NARS member or not.

We are always looking for new Net Control Operators to be Net Control Stations on Tuesday and Wednesday evening Nets.
